actually we only need just an amount everyday.

since everyone is having more,
the more we have to kill the cows,
the more we have to cut the trees,
the more we have to eat.
everything prices up,
because we are eating more and more.
everyone is eating more then the actual amount of foood.

so, everything rises.
and one day,
